I think you all know about the bad headaches Joe has been having. They were every day and continuous. He was not getting a break. HIs spine surgeon said it was not related to surgery. His family doctor started him on Amitriptyline about one month ago. It was presented to us as a migraine prevention medicine. But if you look it up, it's used for all kinds of crazy stuff.
Joe's follow up was today and Joe has changed two things - one is taking the above mentioned medicine and the other is getting in bed at 8:30 p.m. and asleep by 9:30 p.m. When he does that, he has not had a headache. He stayed up late one night and the next day needed Motrin for a headache.
So that was all a great sign. The doctor said the reason for the follow up visit was to see if we should get an MRI and check for a brain tumor. Based on all of what Joe told him, we agreed that is not necessary at this point. After our cruise Joe will stop taking the medicine and see if getting proper sleep does the trick. We will follow up again in one month.
Also on newer phones (it's on the iphone 6) there is a setting called night shift (the doctor's first recommendation is to not use your phone/computer before bed. But if that is just too hard, switch to night shift.) The blue light/screen makes your brain think it's daytime and therefore makes it more difficult to fall asleep. Interesting fact.

Thanks for continued prayers.
