May 18 Update

We are all doing great here in sunny Colorado.  Today we should get up to 86 degrees.  I thought I would write and keep you up to date with our family.

Dave and I are doing well.  I am just recovering from a head cold.  I actually got sent home from work on Wednesday and Thursday because I was so yucky.  I just slept on and off all of those two days.  I am better now - just have some congestion.  Dave is doing awesome and so is our business Ambassador Blind N' Shutter.  It seems each year we bid a contract that is going to force us to "grow" a bit as individuals and as a company.  This year we took on a classroom building at our local college.  This required us installing "pockets."  I don't really even know what "pockets" are but Dave did and was hesitant to bid the job.  But he did bid the job, got the job, and has installed some pockets already and it has worked out well.  I think this job they want done in like 6 weeks or so and at this point you are like "How is THAT going to be done in six weeks?"  But it almost always does get completed on time.

Our weather is very conducive for bike riding right now.  Dave and the boys have mountain bikes and if you go early enough, it's a real nice ride.  Joe and I have been working out with a trainer and Joe noticed the difference right away when he took his first bike ride of the season and was able to ride all the way up a hill that he had previously had to walk the bike up.

Jessica is in Panama right now with her friend from school Andrea..  Andrea's mom has taken Jessica, Andrea and Andrea's sister and they have gone to hotels on both oceans and currently they are spending a weekend "off the grid."  I believe this may be a weekend that they are camping.  From the pictures Andrea's mom has posted on Facebook it looks like it is just beautiful, much like Laura and Marcia's trip looked like.  I don't know if you two had to get shots, but we did the yellow fever shot, the malaria pills and she had previously had the typhoid shot.  I'll try to remember to put a photo at the end of the e-mail.  She comes home May 27th.

Joe is finishing out 8th grade strong.  I just proofed a paper for him for his Literacy class that was the caliber of a "research" paper I may have done as a senior in high school.  He did a good job.  I know for sure I never did anything like that in 8th grade.  He has an Awards night tomorrow night, a DC meeting Tuesday night and the last day of school on Wednesday.  Then he heads to Washington DC on May 31.  He's excited about that.

Ben had a great time on his OWL (Outdoor Wilderness Learning) week up on the Mesa.  He learned more about energy (renewable and non-renewable), he did some fishing, he finished his hunter's safety and did the shooting portion.  He was glad to come home but also very thankful for the opportunity to go.  It is our school district's goal to establish a permament OWL location so that this is just a part of every 6th graders curriculum, not just the 45 who were chosen.  He's excited that school is almost out for summer.
