Meeting Dr. Erickson -- Sept. 30, 2014
Posted Oct 27, 2014 10:21pm
We had originally scheduled an appointment for 1:40 p.m., but we decided we should go to Denver the night before and we were able to change our appointment to 9:40 a.m. Ben stayed with Tami Moore after school on Monday and we picked up Joe from school on Monday and headed to Denver.
We stayed at the Mariott right across the street from the Hospital. The only bad thing was how the doors slam shut if you don't hold the door handles. So we heard a bit of door slamming going on. Other than that it was a nice hotel and especially being right across the street from the hospital.
We headed to the appointment on Tuesday morning. Everyone we met was very kind. Dr. Erickson talked directly to Joe. At first Joe looked at me to help with the answers, but I knew the doctor wanted to talk to him. I explained that to Joe and then the two of them had a good conversation. The doctor asked him what he knew about his sitation and what he knew about the surgery. Joe had a better idea than I did really in what they were going to do.
After the doctor finished with Joe, he answered all of my questions. He also brought in a model (skeleton) and showed what the rod and pins looked like. He was a great guy. We all liked him a lot. We mentioned the December 15th date and he thought he might be full in December. He had his nurse check and he had December 10th open so we took it.
Joe and Ben were off school the next week and there was a Spine Class scheduled for Thursday, October 9 so we registered for that.
On the way home from the doctor visit, we stopped and met with Jessica for lunch in Golden. It was great to see and visit with her.
