Family Reunion - August 2014 DAY TWO (Saturday)

Beep - Beep - Beep - The alarm sounds.  7:00 a.m. - time to get up so we can go through security, get breakfast and be first in line for standby for the 10:00 flight.  We have no clothes to change into - some of us shower, some don't.  We did get toothbrushes from the front desk and the bathrooms had toothpaste.  That was nice.  We gather our belongings and hold on to our room keys in case we don't get on the 10:00 flight.  We walk and walk and walk and get through security and get to our gate and we are FIRST to check in for stand by.

We then go to McDonalds and get some McBreakfast.  Did I mention I met my Fitbit goal for number of steps walked yesterday.  Well I am also well on my way for meeting that goal today too.  After McDonalds we get to our gate and wait.  The agent asks us "If we only have two or three seats, would you like to split up."  We reply, No.  It is then we find out that we are definitely booked on the 1:00 ish flight, so at least we don't have to wait until 4:15.  Again she asks us if we only have three seats do you want to split up?  No.  They call out three names as they are doing their final boarding.  Two of the three show up.  Then she walks over to a couple and says "If we only have one seat, would you two split up?"  They say, "yes."  We figure by this time that there is only one seat on the plane and start making plans for what we are going to do next.  So that must be why she had to call our name four times, "Deters!  Deters - party of four!, Deters get on the plane now.  Deters, let's go."  We were just kind of staring at her.  All four of us and the one from the couple got on the plane and Ben and I got to sit by each other.  Hallelujah!

We land in Detroit, we get our super nice van with leather seats and a DVD player.  We hit yet another McDonalds and get some lunch and begin our drive to Maumee Bay.

We arrive to our cabin and I get to see my mom, Jessica, and Marcia.  YEAH!  We made it.  First thing I want to do is get a shower.  After the shower I feel much better and we prepare to go to Teresa's and Mary's for BBQ Chicken for supper.  We get to see everyone and the kids just blend right in - just like we have never left.  I love that about family - you just start up right where you left off.

After supper, Stephanie had a game for us called "Over the Line."  We all lined up behind the line and then she would ask a question like Who is a mother?  All those who were mothers stepped over the line.  It was a way to get to know a little more about everyone.  Who has ever had life-threatening surgery - Me, Teresa, Donna.  And I was thinking just me - oops NO.  Who has been in the military - Dave.  That was a fact that some didn't know.  Things like that.  It was fun.

Later we all went inside and my mom shared memories about dad and life.  It was great.

Because Ben (aka the "little guy" was 12 we all got to go through TSA pre screen.  Kept our shoes on, etc.

Only ones on the sky link in Dallas.
