DAY 5: MAY 30, 2015
Today after breakfast we enjoyed a nice horseback ridding tour through the cloud forest of Monteverde. The horses were very gentle they even knew where to go following each other. Some of them stopped on the way for a grass snack so we had to make them keep going. Once we were done there at the horses place, we went to a farm next door they are reforesting. Walter the person in charge of this reforestation program was our host. We hiked through the woods until we got to an open area where our own baby trees where waiting for us to plant them and help not only a CRn forest to grow back to life but we helped the world to get greener and more suitable to live in it. In the afternoon we went to the Santa Elena Biological Reserve for a hike that took us about 1,5h through the cloud forest. The vegetation is as dense as the chances of seeing animals were limited. However, just being there in the middle of a tropical cloud forest made our day. After walking and ridding the horses and after having fun, the best way to celebrate our successful journey was having a delicious ICE-CREAM!!! (They make them locally by the way) we went to the hotel because it started to rain as it is usual in the cloud forest. Dinner was ready by 7 so while we were waiting some of us prepared some Costa Rican candy made out of powder milk, sweet condensed milk, and ground coconut. That was our dessert this evening. As we finished having dinner it stopped raining so we visited downtown. Once back in the hotel we were ready to go to bed. We'll catch up tomorrow with more adventures in Costa Rica! Have a great night!!!
