Mama Said There'd be Days Like This

This morning when I opened my eyes at 6:30 a.m., I checked my phone (my clock) and say that Joe had messaged me at 5:30 a.m. asking for oxycodone.  I texted him back and asked if he was still awake and there was no answer.  Seems like Dave received the same text and was able to help Joe.

Joe has been working out with a trainer and it's been going great, but he's pushing himself hard and may have just pushed too hard.  They worked on lower back and core on Wednesday (they had done legs Monday and arms the previous Friday).

We also have the JUCO (Junior College World Series of Baseball) happening all week and Joe has gone to a lot of games and sat in stadium seats and bleachers.  This is not comfortable for him at all, but he will tell you he was trying to be "social."  Wednesday night after the baseball game, he had five friends spend the night.  Joe slept sideways on a recliner chair.  By Thursday night, Joe could literally no longer walk.  Friday morning was when he was asking for the oxy - which we had left over from Jessica's shoulder surgeries three years ago.

Finally after he got the oxy he was able to sleep a little.  I e-mailed the Spine Team at Children's and let them know what was up and that he and his dad would be going to Europe June 11.  While I was waiting for a reply, Ben texted me from Costa Rica and said he had lost his debit card and could I cancel it.  I looked on Wells Fargo and saw that no charges had been made since his flight through Atlanta and told him I would keep monitoring it.  If I cancel it and he finds it he wouldn't be able to use it.

A few hours later, Ben texted me and he had found his wallet and debit card.

I'm working really hard at not getting anxious and worried, but just getting a few people to pray with me and repeat God's promises to myself and take believing action.

We ended up getting Joe an x-ray (which look fine as far as the fusion goes).  They still need a radiologist to read them.  Then we went to Docs on Call and a doctor examined him.  He pressed on different parts of his back and when they touched his left SI joint, he about shot to the moon and back.  So rest and a prescription for muscle relaxers and a prescription for oxycodone.  If he's not feeling better by Monday, back to the Doctors.  He may not be 100% by Monday, but we should see a difference.

Thanks for continued prayers.
