Costa Rica - Day Two (Ben)

We started our day early with a great CRn breakfast, that is rice and beans mixed with spices we call it "pinto". We tasted some fresh delicious fruits, and got to drink amazing coffee. After our meal, we brought our luggage to the bus where our driver Juan Carlos helped us getting it on the truck. We then headed towards Alajuela, we stopped at the Central Park an visited the Catholic Cathedral which was BEAUTIFUL!!! Then we went straight to the Poas Volcano National Park. We went on a walk-hike from the visitors center to the main crater which is ACTIVE!!!! We couldn't see it because it was foggy as many other times. This is because the volcano is located in the middle of a cloud forest, there of course clouds are the rulers! It was cold up there and rainy but our crew was READY with our raincoats and ponchos! After our National Park visit we went to have lunch in this cozy, family owned, welcoming restaurant located just about going down the hill. The food was truly good but to be honest the best part was DESSERT!!!!!!!!!!! Strawberry mousse on a cookie. Afterwards we had a surprise tour Explorica got ready for us. We visited a local farm were we ride a truck, we ate fresh strawberries, home made cheese and we even milked a cow! It was so much fun!! After so much to do,........ Well, it wasn't even close to stop there! ;) We went to Sarchi one of CR towns. we saw the largest oxcart in the world all painted by hand and then we visited the oxcart factory where it was manufactured. We then had a great spare SHOPPING TIIIIIIIIME! The store was just huge full of good stuff... So hard to decide what to buy! From there, it was time for us to go to the hotel, it was no short ride but it was nice... We even passed in front of the shrubs park called Zarcero. The shrubs are pruned into human, abstract, animals shapes. It seems like in CR the fun never ends. As we arrived in the hotel we had a nice Spaghetti dinner. Tomorrow? Please COOOOOOME!!!

Ben facetimed me and called me from the Hotel at the end of the day.  He also sent me a lot of photos.  Some are from the tour diary and a lot more are from Ben. Enjoy.

  1. This is a great blog! Who is writing it? Ben? I don't even know where Costa Rica is. This will be a great adventure for me too! Love you, Aunt Tee

    1. The tour director is keeping a "tour diary." So these are his updates. I think I invited you to the tour diary page, but it would have looked like it was coming from Ben. I used the e-mail you and Lou share. He's having such a good time. He got sunburned yesterday on his legs in the kayaking - so hopefully that's not too painful.
