Monday, July 25th CA Trip

Another beautiful day here in CA. This morning we went out to breakfast at Elios with a past swim coach of Lisa and I. His name is Donald Hickling. We visited for at least two hours. It was fun to reflect back.
We did a little outlet shopping mall after breakfast and went to the Nike outlet store. WOW. Lots of cool shirts that i thought about picking up for Ben, but they were all long sleeve and we don't do much in the long sleeve world in Grand Junction.
We headed back to the hotel for some rest.
At 2:15 pm Nancy McGregor came to pick us up. We visited in the room for about an hour and then we headed to San Ramon with a pit stop at the Pleasanton mall to a shop called Somi for our bra fittings. Two of us needed to be fitted and bought some much needed undergarments. We had a fun time with the sales lady and as we were checking out, another sales woman said, "I feel like I'm missing out on all the fun."
We then drove to Nancy's house where her daughter Suzi is living with her as well as Suzi's 3 1/2 year old daughter named Addison. We also met Suzi's fiance Clayton. Soon Nancy's business partner came over as well as Chris Armijo. Nancy and Chris were a BIG part of our ministry life in 1975 and up. Nancy took the PFAL class with Dad, Mom, and Teresa in January 1976. Throughout the years they have decided not to fellowship with the ministry but still have a great heart for God and love for us.
Chris has been dating a man for about eleven years. She let him know that she was going to visit some friends that she hadn't seen in about 18 years and it was Phyllis Lombardi. He said I worked for a Lombardi a long time ago. Chris was trying to remember dad's name and her boyfriend was trying to think of the man's name. At the same time, they said his name was Don. So Chris's boyfriend said, Was he a truck dispatcher? Chris replied that she did not know. He asked her three separate times to find out if Phyllis Lombardi was related to the Don Lombardi he worked for at City Drayage. He was a truck driver and Don Lombardi was a really nice guy; in fact he thought he was too nice. (This was the only job dad ended up being let go from....a pivotal time in my life because they (dad and mom) were seriously considering moving back to Oregon when he couldn't find work.) What a trip and what a small world.
Also Betty Fisher had tried to strike up a relationship way back with Nancy McGregors father, so just kind of intertwined in many ways. We had a great visit and I'll post the photos.
Tomorrow Mom has an appointment at Kaiser for her hip. I want to go by dad's grave and we may go see Shirley Maxwell and Earl Harris. Then (don't be jealous) we are going to eat supper at Bancheros.
Love to you all,
Patty
